Writing Objective 1

The student will produce an effective composition for a specific purpose.

  • Writing Objective 2

    The student will produce a composition that demonstrates the conventions of spelling, capitalization, punctuation, grammar, usage, and sentence structure.
  • capitalize and punctuate correctly
  • write with accurate spelling
  • apply standard grammar and usage to communicate clearly
  • edit and proofread
  • Writing Objective 3

    The student will recognize appropriate organization of ideas in written text.
  • revise drafts by adding, elaborating, deleting, combining, and rearranging text

    The student will recognize correct and effective sentence construction in written text.
  • recognize fragments and run-on sentences and determine the best way to correct them
  • choose the most effective way to combine ideas
